Surf In Cornwall
What Is Surf In Cornwall
Surf In Cornwall was my first-ever surfing edit, and it holds a special place in my journey as a filmmaker. When I set out to create it, I wanted to focus on a personal style of storytelling through my point of view (POV) surf videos. The idea was to give viewers an immersive experience that captured the feeling of actually being out there on the waves, experiencing everything from the rush of catching a wave to the challenges of paddling through the surf. I spent a lot of time experimenting with different angles and shots to ensure that the footage felt authentic and engaging, aiming to transport the audience directly into the heart of the surfing experience. Looking back on it now, it's incredible to see how far my editing skills have come since then. While the edit is a bit rough around the edges in places, it was a learning experience that laid the foundation for everything that followed.
One of the aspects I’m particularly proud of in Surf In Cornwall is the interviews I conducted with local surfers. I wanted to go beyond just showing the action and delve deeper into the personal side of surfing—what it means to the people who practice it and how it impacts their lives. These conversations helped me understand that surfing is much more than just a sport; for many, it’s a way of life, a form of meditation, and a means of connecting with nature and others. By incorporating these interviews, I was able to give the edit more depth, creating a well-rounded view of the surfing community in Cornwall. Looking back, it was a significant milestone in my development as both a filmmaker and storyteller, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to reflect on it and see how much I’ve grown since then
