The Cornish Archive

What Is The Cornish Archive

After finishing University, I spent some time reflecting on my experiences in Falmouth, and I realized how much of a creative and personal journey it had been. During this period of reflection, I decided to revisit some of the footage I had filmed during my time there that hadn’t made it into my previous project, FIRE. This led to the creation of The Cornish Archive, a more raw and stripped-back style of video focused solely on the essence of surfing. Unlike FIRE, which had a more polished and cinematic approach, The Cornish Archive showcases the pure, unfiltered moments of the sport—capturing the power of the ocean and the raw energy of the surfers. It was important for me to emphasize the simplicity and authenticity of the experience, highlighting the real connection between the surfers and the waves, without distractions or embellishments.

As I pieced the footage together, I realized how much my time at University had shaped my personal and creative growth. The three years I spent in Falmouth weren’t just about studying or completing projects—they were about discovering new perspectives, honing my craft, and forming lasting friendships with people who shared the same passions. Looking back, I’m forever grateful for the opportunities I had to learn, experiment, and collaborate with such a talented and inspiring community. The Cornish Archive isn’t just a video—it’s a tribute to that chapter of my life, a reminder of how valuable those years were, and a celebration of everything I was able to experience and learn along the way.
